Weddings...
I am what you might call a wedding specialist...so I have been told. I try and cover every aspect of your wedding needs that relates to the service that I provide.
If you haven't formally cut your wedding cake during you wedding meal (wedding breakfast) you may want to do it just before your first dance. I would normally get everyone that has a camera arranged around the cake with the two of you stood behind it ready to take a photo. However I would make sure that the official photographer has the first and clear shots of you both.
Initially there is your first dance and your second dance if you have one. You may want to have the first dance all to your-selves and get everyone to join in with you on a second piece of romantic music then again you may want everyone to join in about half-way through the first piece.
People often ask me what should we do and when and my reply is normally "It's your day do exactly what you want to do when you feel comfortable doing it". There are various expectations that your guests might have, but remember you don't have to go with tradition, you can set the trend and do things at you own pace. You must never feel forced into doing things.
You may want to traditionally open the buffet, all this involves is my-self announcing that you, the happy couple will now go and inspect the buffet and formally open it by selecting a few things from it. Check Availability?

Birthdays...

Although less formal birthdays are just as important as a big wedding. All your friends and family are there and you want it to be just perfect.
The birthday party may be yours or someone else's, if it is someone else's it might be a surprise birthday party. If it is a surprise, punctuality and discretion are the two watchwords here. As with all my bookings I am always in close contact with the client, so any last minute changes to your plans can easily be taken into consideration and adjusted for at my end. I would be at the venue and set-up a good three quarters of an hour to an hour before the person who's birthday it is is due to arrive. During this time I can be playing background music and organising the gathered throng of people ready to surprise and greet the honored guest. I normally suggest that everyone gathers around the entrance of the function room with all the lights off ready for the birthday boy or girls to walk through the door. At which point I will have prompted everyone to cheer as I turn the lights back on and play the music for "Happy Birthday to you..." for everyone to join in with. I would then normally play some party background music for a while as the person in question gets over their shock and surprise.
Later in the evening maybe just before or just after the buffet I would ask the birthday boy or girl to say a few words to you all on the microphone and cut their cake if there is one. Then on with the show as they say... Check Availability?

Anniversaries...
Wedding anniversaries are these days more poignant than ever as more and more relationships dissolve and break-up. For this reason alone occasions like this should be admired and treasured. Whether it be a Ruby, Silver or Gold, the ongoing love and commitment that two people have for each-other should celebrated by everyone. It could be you and your husband, your mum and dad or your gran and granddad, its a party that everyone will want to be at. Wedding anniversaries tend to be more family orientated than any other type of function, bringing together relative from all over the country if not from all over the world. There is a good chance that some people might not have seen each-other in a very long time.
In circumstances like this I tend to keep the first part of the night very quite and low key as far a the mood of the night is concerned. I give people a chance to have a good chin-wag and catch-up on old times by playing mellow background music. Music that is tailored mainly to the age group and likes of the happy couple themselves. As the night progresses I would liven things up bit by bit playing music that all ages can enjoy, till we get onto the real party tunes later in the evening. Check Availability?

Presentation Nights, Staff Parties & Dinner Dances...
Sometimes the bug bear and nightmare of every boss, this is one of those occasions where everyone can let their hair down a bit and forget office politics for one night. You would generally want background music playing for the first part of the evening leading up to either a dinner that would have the background music continuing throughout or on to an awards presentation that could see the use of a radio microphone (wandering mic) if required. I can play fan-fares, In-tros and out-tros for you as each award is announced and presented also if required, giving a greater degree of professionalism to the night. If its your A.G.M. or Xmas Party you may be planning a raffle, sit down bingo or charity auction, if so I can provide the facilities ie. extra microphones and bingo machine.
Then once all the formalities are out of the way we can crack on with getting the night rocking, playing all the cheesy favourites and party classics that you know and love, and some that wish you couldn't remember but do. Check Availability?
