It's happened,
I'm very sad to say that The County Hotel,
Bramhall has now closed for good, all to make way for exclusive
residential retirement apartments - well I ask you, is it worth it?.
It's been on the cards for a few years now and we knew it was coming,
but it doesn't make it any easier. The County Hotel was the only hotel
in Bramhall, and it contained the only pub in Bramhall, Shires Bar. It
was a real community Hotel and it will no doubt be missed by the
countless customers and staff that have passed through its doors over
the years. I myself have worked there regularly for ten very happy
years, providing the discos for many different parties in the Cheshire
and Derbyshire Suites, and in Shires Bar doing the Sunday night Quiz
Night. The County was the type of hotel where all the staff weren't just
staff, they were all mates. This made the hotel a really happy
place to be and work in. As in all hotels these days, the pay for the
people that worked there day-in day-out wasn't anything to write home
about, and the hours that some of the staff had to work was
unbelievable. The bar lads over the years disserve a big pat on the
back, they have been great - Chris, Alex, George, Dave, Phil, Steve,
Scot, Rick, Nick, Mike and many more. I need say a big thanks to all the
C & B staff from over the years as well - Ricardo, Ian, Ian & Ian
(yep all three), James, Jane, Karen, Sue, Doug, Fabio, Becky, Cat and
Christine. Without these people, that I can also call good friends,
nobody would have seen me at the County. In fact I would like to say a
big thanks to all the hard working staff that I have met there over the
years, and also to all the locals for their friendship, patronage and
support for everything we have done at the County. I will miss it and
everyone that has been associated with it.
I will miss you all.
